Can I use the bathroom during the refit?
Not the one being renovated — plan for it being fully out of action for the duration. If it is your only bathroom, we sequence the work to keep a working WC available each evening wherever the plumbing allows, and the honest conversation about the shower gap happens before you book, not during week one.
In a two-bathroom house this question answers itself. In the one-bathroom houses that dominate our patch, it is the most important practical conversation of the job, and it deserves straight answers: the WC can usually be kept usable overnight for most of the programme (reconnected each evening in the early days, out of action for a shorter window around floor tiling), while the shower or bath is genuinely gone for one to two weeks.
How clients bridge the shower gap, in observed order of popularity: gym memberships get their annual workout; neighbours and nearby family lend bathrooms; and for families we can sometimes sequence a working shower earlier — fitting and commissioning the new shower before the floor is finished — at the cost of a slightly longer overall programme. Which trade-off suits you is a booking-stage decision.
What we commit to either way: the water is on every evening, the WC situation for each day is on the programme you get before we start, and any day the house will be without drainage entirely (moving a stack connection, typically one day) is flagged a week ahead.
